We're orphans now

~Picking up jaw off floor~

I think I re-injured my neck doing a double take when Huz came downstairs and told me the news.

PALIN?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?

Christ. They don't call her Saracuda for nothin'.

She's a grudge holder currently snarled up in an ethics investigation, she poo-pooed this whole thing in the recent past saying she would not leave Alaska-there was so much she wanted to do for this state, she has little experience(just a B.A. in journalism)-zip in international affairs- and I know I'll be blasted for this, but the mommy in me says,"how are you going to have time for your new little baby? A baby with special needs." And that ole' dude has a good shot at keeling over in the White house-and then Sara Palin will be our Commander and Chief? NO. She doesn't have the experience to aid a president. I'm sure the guys out there think she'll make McSame an excellent nurse maid.

What an awkward and lame speech. That puts the whole situation in a nutshell. Playing the Hillary card to attract the Clinton die-hards with bringing the women's equality movement to the forefront, despite the fact that her own views are antithetical to theirs. Am I totally naive? I'm hearing Hillary Diehards are willing to give up their democratic values JUST to have a 2 x chromosomes in office? I just can not accept that. This is a THREAT to the women's progressive movement.

Will this hurt the Obama campaign? I have faith in the Thinking People. But there are a LOT who are NOT thinking. McSame, you fool. The pooch has been screwed. You just jumped the shark, my friend.

She'll be SPANKED by Joe at the first vice pres debate.

More after my head stops spinning. Maybe.

The fantastic and lovley CELTIC DEVA has written much on Sara Palin-for more info go here!

I'm so glad to learn more about Palin from someone who knows. I just got done reading the news and I came over to your blog to see what you had to say about it. Yikes!

To be fair, I have-up until the investigation, been happy with a lot that she has done for Alaska. When she was running for gov (and even back then they were questioning her experience for the job)I spoke with her and even though she's Rep., I liked what she had to say. Especially in regards to cleaning out the dirty politics and busting up the Good Ole' boy clubs.
But now, regarding the investigation as well as the nomination, it looks like she has wielded that power and joined on in.
So disheartening.
And as we were standing there with her, she alluded snarkily to her own feelings toward democrats when addressed by a like-minded campain goon. She didn't realize we were liberals. Why would LIBERALS be at a Rep. shindig?
Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro, indeed.

Accepting this nomination is totally irresponsble on her part.

I had a hard time not allowing myself to support Hillary Clinton just because she's a woman...because it would be nice to have a woman president for once...but that would be the wrong reason. Now, Hillary is certainly qualified, so I might have voted for her anyway (too much to go into here about why I might not). But as I read on another blog today, McCain's choice will probably backfire.

Of course Dan Quayle was once the VP, so who knows what will happen?

OTOH, Gov. Schwarzenegger has been exceeding my expectations. Sometimes being a CEO, or business owner, or governor gives you a skill set that could be positively presidential. I'll have to think about what skills actually do make a person qualified.

watching this from afar is so weird. actually watching the u.s. from over here for the past 8 years has been...again weird...and eye-opening, but that's for another time maybe.
anyway, yea. i HOPE clinton supporters are smart enough to see things as they really are. again...weird, man.
where am i going with this? most of the time i find myself dumb-founded by the whole circus act/ freak show that is american politics.
i sent in my absentee ballot the other day. i felt queasy afterward.

I tho't of you when I read that today!

I totally agree. Are Americans so naive that they don't see how bloody manipulative this was? G-d, the Republicans have shot themselves in the foot...and the thing that pisses me off (for, oh, about a decade!) is that PHILOSOPHICALLY I am a Republican (degree in foreign relations, can't help it). What the heck hap'd to laissez faire? (Shite, what the hell hap'd to informed voters.) But on the plus side, just think about the now mandatory change this election heralds: we either get a black man in office or a woman -- woohoo!

When I first heard McCain chose a woman - not knowing anything about her, her age, experience, etc. - I thought he was pretty smart. But as soon as I started hearing about her, it became clear what a dumb move it was, and insulting, and all the things you wrote. Good god.

Ruth- it IS insulting coming from a man like McSame. He probably had to drag himself kicking and screaming to the phone to give her the call!

Anthro-Don't get me wrong, I believe in, perhaps, 10 years with much more and varied experience under her belt, Palin WILL make a formidable candidate. But NOW? NO!

Witchybaby- YES! It IS a great time to be here witnessing these events! To see in the first black man or woman(over Hillary's dead body!)into office is fantastic!

AND WHY O WHY CAN'T THERE BE A SPELL CHECKER ON THE COMMENTS PAGE!?!?!?!?!!? I LOOK LIKE AN IDJUT!

See, you're one of the few (being an Alaska native) who is saying that the choice was not stupid, but risky. Palin has some interesting attributes, but as you said, her revenge-filled firings and grudges are why the investigations started - and that tendency matches McCain's own temper! Too many Obama supporters are saying this is unpredictable and stupid, but I think it was smarter than choosing someone like Romney. It is a high-risk bid to pull independents, but those in the middle should remember Palin's anti-abortion opinions, support for an imperial U.S. foreign policy, etc.

It's stunning and a sad commentary on our society. It's amazing to think that people will fall for this and, unfortunately, they will.

I can't wait for the VP debate. I might even have to get cable :)

Oy! I'm still speechless other than that!

I am glad you made this post, this morning I was woderingwhat your thoughts were to all this after reading about it in the paper.

Loring, I may have misunderstood, but were you equating Independents with PUMAs? I see them as totally different, PUMAs are raving lunatics . I see Independents as deep thinkers, digging down through the muck and mire and totally eschewing the bullshit political games on BOTH sides. A year ago McSame was more appealing reaching across the party line, going against the Rep. grain. But now his true colors have shown through and I don’t believe the Independents will fall for that or this Beauty Pageant part deux. It does lean toward the stupid. He has totally blown apart his argument for Obama’s lack of experience. Palin is GROSSLY unqualified. And she is nothing like Hillary.
I know on one hand I’m responding with “high risk definitely, but yes, stupid as well.” But as I read back all that I just wrote I can’t help but think, “ Am I overestimating fellow Americans?” McSame is hosting a popularity contest . Palin’s perky and purty and many a Jethro would love to sit and have a beer with her. I pray to the Universe to give America the strength and smarts to choose the policy and not the “person”.
BTW, I’m a Jersey girl! Have the pics of big hair to prove it!

Oh, no, I agree that PUMAs have something loose upstairs....

And what about her Very First Speech, wherein she bald faced lies about not supporting the infamous "Bridge to Nowhere?" What a great choice for a running mate. Egads.

healingmagichands said...

Also, let us not forget that she is in favor of teaching intelligent design as a science course AND she believes that abstinence only sex education is the right way to deal with the subject......Does it work? thousands of pregnant teenagers say no.

Oh, this just in! Her 17 year old daughter is five months pregnant! Gee. She can't even convince Her Own CHILD to participate in abstinence? Egads again.

Healing-I first saw this as the biggest joke! But jumpin jahosafats! What if she DID get into office.

This could be FRIGHTENING.

A local writer (Doogan)stated that she's like the one who gets to the battle after it's won, bayonets the dead and claims the victory!
